Karina Does it Right, oil on canvas, {blog: search Karina}
My name is Judy Takács.
I live in Ohio and I paint people.
I asked my female friends and family to take off their tops for me and pose holding a variety of balls to cover their breasts.
Oddly enough, many of them said yes…and here's why.
These chicks really do have balls. And not just the kind it takes to have a little fun and show some skin. They are truly the unsung heroines of their ordinary lives…and that's why I picked them.
And then I asked them to pick their balls. And they did, thinking of them metaphorically and symbolically to represent their strengths and struggles.
These ladies have risen to a host of challenges with grace, courage and persistence and I'm honored they have allowed me to paint them.
With its head-turning name and wholesome mission, this growing and living collection, now 45 paintings strong, has traveled and been exhibited in Ohio and the Mid-west. Each time gathering new volunteers who realize they too, might just be a Chick with Balls.
I blog about the stories behind each painting at chickswithballsjudytakacs.blogspot.com. Search each woman's story using the model's first name.
